Have you noticed the dramatic shift in weather this Spring in Queensland? It feels like we’ve transitioned directly from our cooler winter months into summer, with temperatures soaring to 30 degrees—WOW!
This change also affects our pets, just as it does us. Our Office Manager, Cooper, has certainly felt the impact. As a Property Manager, it’s important to consider what information we are sharing with our tenants.
In our quarterly newsletter, we included the following message for both tenants and landlords:
Welcome to Spring! With the seasonal transition, we have observed a rise in temperatures. Please take a moment to think about your household pets. Here are some important tips suggested by Pets for Homes to keep your pets safe during this hot (and only getting hotter) period.
Staying hydrated: Ensure pets have access to fresh water and shade to prevent heat stroke. Avoid walks during peak heat. Use cooling mats or vests if needed.
Hot Surfaces: Protect paws from hot pavements by walking pets in cooler hours or using protective booties.
Wildlife Safety: Supervise pets outdoors to prevent encounters with venomous animals. Train pets to avoid snakes and spiders and regularly check your property for these dangers.
Skin Protection: Apply pet-safe sunscreen to sensitive areas and provide shaded areas to prevent sunburn.
Parasite Prevention: Apply preventive treatments for ticks and fleas and inspect pets frequently for infestations.
