If you choose to travel at this time of year, stop and think about your home. With Christmas we all want a relaxing and enjoyable time so think about your security now. Our top 5 tips for either landlord or tenant:
- Collect mail: At this time of year there is so much mail / parcels arriving. Ask your neighbour/friend to check and collect anything that arrives, including junk mail.
- Secure the property: Make sure everything is secured before you leave. Check all your windows and doors before leaving.
- Be mindful of social media posts: Holiday photos are an indication that no one is home. Check real time tagging of photos and consider posting the update when you get home.
- Conduct a preholiday property check: Before leaving check that electrical devices not in use are turned off, including battery charges, and taps are also off. For our tenants if you notice any maintenance issues, please report them to us.
- For extended holidays: Please let us know.
